In Style This Summer: Color-Coded Eating

Posted on July 13, 2011

The Tignum Color Code Body is a great reference to get healthy this summer!  It was developed by Tignum (Institute for Sustainable High Performance) Director of Nutrition, Patti Milligan, in an effort to help people understand that there is a synergistic effect of eating a combination of fruits and vegatables with different pigmentation.  Foods of different color contain a variety of phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and enzymatic co-factors which provide specific functions within the human body.

Some examples of color coded foods you should enjoy this summer are:

YELLOW:  squash, yellow peppers, pineapple, corn
GREEN:  spinach, kale, broccoli, green peppers
ORANGE:  papaya, mango, sweet potato, carrots
RED:  strawberry, red pepper, cranberry, beets
WHITE:  onion, garlic, ginger, cauliflower
PURPLE:  eggplant, prune, plum, blueberry, blackberry

Eat the rainbow and you’ll be very glad you did!! xoxo
