I got a request  to do a post on coats – a great idea and perfect timing to do so!  When it comes to coats, quality is very important.  You want them to last so this should be an investment whether it’s $100 or $1000, you should pick something you can wear often and dress up or down.  I would stick to a classic solid or neutral tone and make sure you end up with TWO great coats – one black and one brown or light colored or you could get one casual and one fancy coat.  My picks include a variety of styles but all are great: coatdress, oversized, boyfriend, military, trench, vintage inspired, and fur!  And remember that fur will never go out of style!

Here are my favorite styles off the runway, ending with a bunch of coats I picked online.  Just click each one to enlarge:

Here are more details on my picks that you can purchase by clicking the pic (subject to availability):

1.   Pretty similar to the Valentino ruffle coat off the runway!

Anthropologie Clinton Trench 188.00

2.   A nice A-line coatdress.

Anthropologie Curtsey Coat 298.00

3.   Mini coatdress accentuating your small waist by flaring at the waist and puff shoulders.

TopShop Girly Skirted Coat 190.00

 4.   I love the casual fur detailing and the fact that it has a hood.  Hooded coats are fashionable when you wear the hood!

TopShop Hooded Pom Pom Coat 145.00

5.   A military trench that can be worn with black or brown.

TopShop Premium Contrast Trench 270.00

6.   My favorite choice – I love the sleeve cuffs, the toggle closures, and the length.  If you buy this coat I will be VERY jealous!!!

TopShop Shearling Duffle by Unique 600.00

 7.   A fancy elegant coatdress, very lady-like, and you could wear this one to work too!

TopShop Premium Faux Fur Collar Coat 360.00

8.   This looks unflattering but trust me, you will look really fashion forward.  I would only recommend the long oversized coats for taller ladies.

TopShop Large Revere Boyfriend Coat 180.00

 9.   This will go with anything, but is more of a weekend/night coat.  This could be your dressy coat.

TopShop Patchy Faux Fur Box Coat 160.00

10.   This is a nice nude color so you could just get this and be done with it.  It’ll go with anything really.  It’s very clean looking!

TopShop Bound Seam Duffle Coat 160.00

11.   I’m loving the high neck!

ModCloth First Snow of the Season Coat 69.99

12.   A beautiful more preppy coat that can be dressed up or down.

ModCloth Cannery Row Coat 249.99

13.   Cropped furs are also very elegant with a dress or high waisted pants (this model looks trashy in the way she is wearing it).  This is another weekend/night coat.

Motel Foxy Loxy Coat 117.00

14.   Sharp vampire-ish collar, you can make it day to night by just flipping up the collar.

BB Dakota Riverton Coat 120.00

15.   An oversized fur, how awesome!  This looks like it’s a trapeze silouette and very vintage inspired, I love it!

Jones New York Ruched Faux Mink Topper 129.99

16.   An oversized boyfriend coat – I’ve seen many coats of this silouette on the runways!

TopShop Textured 4 Pocket Coat 180.00

 17.   A nice simple trench.

TopShop Military Contrast Trench Coat 170.00

18.   A more girly military coatdress from TopShop.
